Silvermines 0 - Rearcross U-12's 3

Ballinaclough was the venue for this U-12 league fixture between Silvermines and Rearcross where a spirited visiting side won out on a three goals to nil score line. Silvermines made the first incision, however Rearcross goalkeeper Colm Lenihan was equal to the effort with a smart save two minutes in. The woodwork denied Rearcross three minutes later when Cathal Kennedy's shot bounced off the cross bar, this was followed with a Stephen Rochford strike later which flew over. Rearcross hit the front on the ten minute mark when Stephen Rochford's low drive from distance went all the way to the corner of the net. Michael Corcoran was a threat for the home side throughout and the number 7 side netted with a good effort from a tight angle and was in action again on fifteen minutes, however the well struck shot was over the crossbar. Stephen Rochford linked up with Patrick Dawson with the resulting strike not far away. The Rea bhoys went two nil lead two minutes before the break thanks to a fine strike from Cathal Kennedy from out on the right. Sean Malone then came to the rescue for Rearcross after intercepting from Michael Corcoran who was through on goals. Rearcross took a three nil advantage to the break when Aaron Kennedy pulled back to Patrick Dawson who fired on target, the ball broke to Eoin O'Connell who was well positioned to knock between the posts deep in to first half injury time. Rearcross showed strongly again in the second half and Eoin Sheldon fired on target, however Adam Steed made the save. Silvermines didn't give up and came close with a good effort from Daniel Quigley after good approach play from Michael Corcoran. Adam Steed was in the action in the 40th minute with a good block from a Billy John Caplis pile driver. Silvermines kept the pressure on and forced three saves on the trot out of Cathal Kennedy, while at the other end good efforts from Cillian Kennedy and Eoin Sheldon weren't far off the mark.
